Kids Jiu Jitsu Classes in Wimbledon
At True Virtues, our Junior programme for ages 8 to 15 teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu technically and seriously, with genuine focus on character development alongside physical skill.
Jiu Jitsu is sometimes called human chess. It rewards patience, problem-solving, and the ability to stay composed under pressure. Those are useful skills for children well beyond the mats.

What Children Get from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
The benefits show up both in the gym and outside it. Through consistent training, students develop practical self-defence skills based on leverage rather than size, genuine confidence built through overcoming physical challenges, discipline from following a structured curriculum, resilience from learning to handle setbacks, and the communication skills that come from working closely with partners in a team environment.
The Seven Virtues in Junior Training
We teach techniques, but we also teach the Seven Virtues of Bushido as part of the curriculum. In Junior classes, we focus particularly on Courage (trying something new and difficult), Respect (for instructors and training partners), and Perseverance (not giving up when things get hard). Children often absorb these more naturally than adults.
Safety and Professional Standards
Safety is the first priority in all our Junior classes. Every coach working with children at True Virtues is fully qualified with significant coaching experience, First Aid trained, and DBS checked.
