About True Virtues Jiu Jitsu
True Virtues Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was founded on the values of Bushido, the traditional code of the warrior, applied through the practice of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The name is not a marketing exercise. It reflects a genuine belief that consistent training develops character as much as technique.
We look to empower our students by giving them the tools they need to develop a great understanding of how to effectively use their body and mind to overcome any challenges they face not only in a competitive arena but also in every day life.
The Seven Virtues
Righteousness-
The ability to act without wavering for what is right
Courage -
Being able to face adversity despite fear
Respect -
Accepting others for who they are
Honour -
A consciousness of personal dignity and worth
Perseverance -
Moving forward despite hardship
Benevolence -
Having compassion for those in need
Courtesy & Politeness -
Acting in a way befitting a martial artist
True Virtues was founded with the vision of creating a training
environment to nurture students looking to develop themselves
in mind, body and spirit.
The study of "Bushido" or the "way of the warrior" creates the framework to truly embody what it is to be a true martial artist.

Lineage
Mitsuyo Maeda > Carlos Gracie > Helio Gracie > Rolls Gracie > Mauricio Gomes > Marc Walder > Mark Phillips > Mike Buckman-Cowling
In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, lineage matters. It is a verifiable chain of instruction tracing directly back to the founders of the art. For a student, this means the techniques you are learning have not drifted. They have been passed down through a direct line of masters, each accountable to the one before them.
